The "round tube wfe" is the one that first appeared on ABG tractors, and was continued until the appearance of the Diesel 70, as a 1955 model, in 1954. The square tube wfe was introduced at that time, and in order to use up remaining stocks, or, as a dealer installed option, the round tube wfe and the square tube wfe were sold, side by side, until stocks were exhausted. By the introduction of the 20 series, the only round tube wfe still being sold were on dealer modified tractors, using dealer owned stocks of wfe. By the time the 730 appeared, very very few round tube wfe were left, and the superior advantages of the square tube wfe were well known!

The location of the 730 decal indicates that the tractor was repainted and redecaled at least once, by someone who had no idea about where to put the decal. As noted, the 20 and 30 series Waterloo two cylinders all used very large yellow decals. Those decals already had the green JOHN DEERE letters already properly positioned, as well as the words DIESEL (if it was a diesel) and the model indicator. Due to this fact, it is simply not possible to find a "factory original" tractor with the model designator in the wrong place.
