Thanks Doug. I'll have to rethink what I'll put on the the floor. I'm talking to a heating guy this week or next and I'll have him price it both ways. With radiant floor on one level and on both. We will have two sliding glass doors on the South side that go right to the floor (naturaly!) with 8' ceilings and the livingroom will have 10' ceilings with the glass being about 18" off the floor. I did a rough estimate using this web site http://www.susdesign.com/overhang/ and have done real tests on site and 3' overhangs seem to work. We are at the 47 degree latitude and this would allow the sun down half the windor/door in mid April and mid August. I want the 10' ceiling so we can have a good view out back. Down to a brook and up to the horizon (8 degees). Nice fields and woods that is our property. I agree with you, and will be using all casement windows. A heat exchanger is also a must. Sorry for taking up so much of your time. I feel like that nerd in highschool that you couldn't get rid of!! Dan.
