John Deere 420 T or 40 T

Hi fellas,
I am really confused as to what a 420t is. To my knowledge the T stands for tricycle. How come I have seen people advertising a 420t or a 40t with a wide front end on it? The way I understant it this is a tractor that can be interchanged between a wide front end and a narrow front end. What denotes this changeable feature on this tractor. What difference do these tractors have from a W model. In my books it lists a T-W. Is all this just to signify a tractor that has a changeable front end? Are they a rare tractor? How come as a wide front tractor it looks just like a normal W model, except the rear wheels appear more narrow? Any anwers to my questions are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
