If your house has vinyl siding, this may help. A few years back, I had a mouse find his way into my attic when it got cold. I followed his tracks in the snow and found the mouse was climbing up to the attic using the square, hollow vinyl pieces on the outside corners of the house. I put some metal screen material into all the corner pieces to keep the mouse out but still allow ventilation. Haven't heard any attic noises in years.
