The time required to heat the block depends on the temperature where the tractor is standing,the wind velocity, the mass of cast iron and water in the water jacket, and the type and wattage of the heater. There is no single answer to that question. You just have to do it by "trial and error". Almost everybody on these sights mentions "two hours" of heater time before start up as what they use so that's a good starting point. By the way, it's a smart thing for the power company to give you a timer. It must be because they don't want you to leave the tractor plugged in all the time.
