Secret #1 is to refill them BEFORE they run dry. Once dry, the little tiny nozzle firing circuits fry or the nozzles clog up with dry ink. You can sometimes recover from a clogged nozzel by blotting it with a wet paper towel. (the ink is water soluble). Do not wipe as this will grind more stuff into the nozzles. You will eventually get tired of refilling them and realize the convenience of just popping in a new one. I now use Walmart or local drug store machine to make prints. 29 cents for a 4x6. Hard to beat when compared to price of ink cartridges and photo paper. You can up load images to Walmart and they will mail them to your house for a small fee. Worth it if you live a long way out.
