I have had some success with certain makes and models - others don't work worth a darn! You can clean the print head, if it is part of the cartridge by setting cartridge in a cup with 1/8" or so of rubbing alcohol in the bottom and soaking for a few minutes. Alternately, clean print head with a q-tip moistened with alcohol. dry on ap paper towell. Best if you don't run cartridge dry before refilling. Allow ink to set in cartridge for a while before trying to print - allowing ink to settle in print cavity, and bubbles to settle out. Try a couple of head cleaning cycles to get ink started. Some ink kits came with a syringe to use to try to suck some ink into the head after refilling. Best if you buy a kit for your particular cartidge, follow instructions, and keep extra equipment for use later - when you are buying straight ink. (Don't swap colors when filling a color cartridge - makes an awful printout!)
