Do you have any anti-virus software? They frequently have firewall options built in to them. Other than that, you can download Spybot Search & Destroy. It's a free spyware removal tool. A Google search will turn up several sites where it can be downloaded. It's about a 4.5 or 5 MB setup file, so it may take a while depending on your connection. It you choose to get this, after it is install/set up, one of the buttons on the Spybot menubar is "Mode". The default setting is "Default Mode", which is a basics-only option. It can be changed to "Advanced", which gives you several tools. You can, under the "Tools" button, click "IE tweaks" heading, and it gives 3 extra options, one of which is to lock the IE homepage against hijacks. You can also set up which programs will run when you boot up your pc, securely shred unwanted files, see a list of all running processes on the pc, etc. It's a very useful tool. You'd be surprised how much unwanted junk gets snuck into your hard drive, especially from so-called "drive-by installations", which are advertising reporting bots that install onto the pc without your knowledge, just because you clicked through a link or banner. Good luck getting it straightened out.
