Rick, What kind of lathe do you have and what is the horsepower? If you want to leave it 3-phase, you can make a rotary phase converter. Or as already suggested, you can buy a VFD (variable frequency drive) that allows for single phase in and three phase out. It also allows you to have variable speed - which is VERY handy on a lathe!
