No doubt that the Robertson head is the way to go for the everyday handyman. I have a neighbour who is a licenced aircraft mechanic (engine rebuilder and air frames, etc) and I once asked him about the Robertson head. He told me that pretty much ALL screwheads on aircraft are Phillips, and not Robertson. Even though they are definitely more difficult to grab with your driver, they are apparently MUCH stronger than the Roberson because of a much smaller amount of metal removed from the screw head. Robertsons just are not used where safety and strength are needed. Interesting story anyways although I have cursed those blessed Phillip heads many times when taking apart engine cases on motorcycle engines, but at least I know why they use them.
