What he means is to bridge the small terminal on the solenoid, often labeled "S" (for "start") to the large stud on the solenoid fed by battery power.

This is a good way to win the Darwin Award. If you MUST do it, have someone on the seat that knows how to operate the tractor, and have them keep the clutch depressed, and the brakes "ON" as an added measure of safety so you don't run over yourself!

Probably more people have been killed by a tractor starting in gear than about any other tractor related death.

Yeah, I know, the tractor is in neutral, and the gun wasn't loaded!
