Well, do you mean the rod is actually welded to the sleeve, or is it so rusty & un-used it won't budge?

Take out the grease zerk, clean, hose down the zerk hole & top & bottom of the sleeve with good penetrating oil - not WD-40, but penetrating stuff - and repeat for a few days. A pipe wrench on it..... Be persistant. Hammer the sleeve to break the rust loose, lets the oil slip in.... Take the unit off, really hammer the sleeve on an anvil....

If the above doesn't loosen it, you got nothing to loose, torch it & beat it & see if it comes loose.

Then get a replacement, salvage yard or so.

Of your options, only 'going to the dealer' will give you bad results - either no longer carried, or it will be made of gold...... ;)

If you just are bumping into the weld area & there are no threads, I guess I'd look to a salvage yard or aftermarket....
