I have a 6 volt Deka in my Farmall B that was installed in 1994. It is a plain old lead-acid battery. I'm still using it, but this is probably the last winter for it. It was only out for a few months in '97 to paint the battery box. I don't pull it out in the winter and the tractor sits in an unheated shed in S.E. PA. It does get cold around here, but rarely below 0deg F. It will get to single digits for only a few weeks at most.

There are only a few manufacturers that offer a 6 volt anymore, so I don't think you will have a wide selection to choose from.

I think that how you treat the battery will have more to do with it's life than who made it. I do not allow a battery to sit around discharged or even partially charged. I put the battery charger on it about every 6-8 weeks over the winter to keep it up. When I run the tractor, I check the ammeter to make sure the charging system is doing it's job. Temperature extremes are hard on batteries, and that effect seems to be multiplied on discharged batteries.
Just what seems to work for me, your results may vary.
Don't forget extra-heavy cables on a 6 volt system. It takes twice the amperage for a 6 volt starter to do the same work as a 12 volt. Keep your connections clean, bright and tight too.
