Tractor Towing.....without a trailer?

I plan on attending an auction this weekend where a nice little 1953 Super A is available. The sale is about 30 miles from my home and if I can get this little tractor (2400 lbs.) I would need to go somwhere and rent a trailer, pick it up, etc. But, is there a way to tow the tractor behind my '97 F150 safely...like stablizing the steering on the tractor and just tow real slow? I'm just trying to avoid some aggravation but I don't want to cause an accident over being a little lazy. I will heed your advice. Thanks.
