Now understand that this is coming from a fan of
Triumph and MG motor-cars. These were Leylands
products, grouped together by c. 1970. My first
car was a 1969 MGB, lovingly restored by my own
hands...and fixed every Wednesday, it seemed. I
baby-sat another BL product, a Jaguar E-type 4.2
drophead coupe (convertable) and maintained it
for some years. However, for something that I actually wanted to
work properly, with minimal maintenance, and not
to do annoying things like break down in the
middle of a field I WOULD NOT BUY A 1970 BRITISH LEYLAND PRODUCT
FOR FREE!!!! In 1970, Coventry and Birmingham were beset by
labor (labour) problems together with financial
difficulties. This caused workmanship that was
below dismal... If you're prepared to re-assemble, re-fit, and
essentially re-do the construction of this bit
of vintage British machinery, then more power to
you. If not...well, John Deere and International and
Ford built great machines during the same years.
