Have this green thing sitting in the shed. Somehow lost my fuel cap (which was black). Went to the green dealer and got a new one. Clerk laid this RED thing on the counter. Says I "I'm not putting that red thing on MY tractor". Clerk says " Green's only had them on 'em for the past 35 years". Yuck! Went home and got out my I&T manual which has a picture of a nice green 3020 tricycle on the front cover.......yep. On top, in front of the radiator is a RED cap. Oh well, some days it just doesn't pay to get up. I'ma just assuming that after a few hundred owners of this new tractor (in the early '60's ) filled their fuel tanks with antifreeze, someone decided it was best to identify which of those 2 caps were which and the one with the red cap was the tank that made the whoopie.
Now about RED. Have nothing against them. My first tractor was a "B" and second was a 464. Just happen to find other things for sale and the dealer sold out and left. Only dealers here now are green and blue. Gotta do whatcha gotta do. Mark
