Football teams like Indiana and Kentucky are perfect examples of why the BCS is the biggest rip-off since the invention of the mafia. IU and UK can go oh-for-the-season and still get a big fat BCS paycheck because they happen to be doormats in the right leagues. In the meantime, schools like Utah, Boise State and Louisville can bust their butt building a great team, but they can't get in a big-money bowl. Hell, last year Utah LOST money by going to the Liberty Bowl after deducting expenses. Louisville is solving their problem by joining a BCS conference, but what about the rest of the country? Well I'm really hoping my Utah Utes can hang on to their current ranking and bust that BCS party to at least show the rest of the doubting country that we really can play football here in the mountains. Miami? Gee didn't they lose a conference game to UNC? And did't UNC get worked by Utah by about 30 points? The biggest difference between teams like Utah and Boise State is that we can't stock the roster more than 1 deep. BCS schools who get the big paydays on New Years Day can afford to stock blue-chippers 2 and 3 deep. Utah is good, but we're hanging by a thread....and that thread is named Alex Smith. If he goes down with an injury, we're toast.
