Generator Woes(Alternator Conversion) Farmall C

I'm at my witts end with the 6V + Ground Gererator on a Farmall "C". I thinking of converting it a 12V (-) ground system. I looking for some advice to some questions hoping that someone can help. 1. With a 12 V (-) Ground system will this affect the starter? When starting will the starter spin in the same direction as the 6V (+) ground system????? 2. I know that I will need to install a ballist resister for the coil. Is there any other modifications to the ignition circuit that will need to done? 3. I want to install a generic 12V alternator from any car or truck. Instead of finding the first alternator I see in the junk yard can anyone recommand a manafacture that I should sort after that will best meet this application.
