Normal fuel pressure on those old detroits is 30-70 at full rpm, less at low rpm They are not real touchy about it as long as it is atleast 30 at top rpm/full load. Make sure the fuel rail in the head has all the air out of it so you get fuel from the return line. The return line fitting in the head should have a small restrictor orfice or be a spring loaded check valve, make sure they are not plugged. As Les said, make sure the emergency shutdown flapper in the air box on the inlet side of the blower is not tripped shut. I once saw a guy spend 2 days trying to start one when someone accidently(or purposly) tripped that emergency flapper shut cutting off the air supply to the engine. Lotta smoke, but no run :)
