An Engineer I used to work with years ago said his parents moved to Tennessee. He is originally from Mich. (like me) and his reasons were the following, 1. Tn. is only a 9 hour drive from the the family is Mi. 2. Tn winters arent as bad as Mi. 3. nice scenery, land is relatively inexpensive when compared to Mi. and midwest. 4. No water shortages like in Az. and the west, which also means no wildfires like in the western part of the country.
