You are not alone in running off a contractor.

We had one hired and he finally started work.
Then he started cutting corners,so out the door
he went.

Hired another contractor. He came in and stayed
on the job till it was done. He didnt do the
best job either.

I usually found I could do the work just as good
as the pros. Takes me awhile tho.
