Oil, water, and pushrod passages I've always worried about and plugged with rags or something soft and pliable. And maybe I should worry more about the cylinder bores than I do, usually just a rag. But in any event, before I unplug anything, I put a straw in the end of my smaller shop vac and seal it good with 240MPH (duct) tape and suck minute particles with the straw, especially around the rings - little stuff always finds it's way in the gap between the bores, pistons, rings. Clean rag to give the bores a wipe. Makes the shop vac sound like it's gonna implode, but so what, it's cheaper to replace one of them if does. Haven't had a problem yet.
