I would go and get it. In fact I was all set to go and get a ford 640 this week - told the seller I was coming and arranged for a trailer etc. and he sold it our from under me. That was within 250 miles and I could get there and back in a day. This one is about 10+ hrs. away and I can't take off for 2 days like that. I agree with those of you who say it's too big a risk to send that kind of money. I would like to be trusting - but not foolish. So, I'm going to try and get him to agree to an "escrow" transaction. I'd send him the full amount to a holding account in his name. As soon as the tractor arrives I release the money to him. If it doesn't arrive or is not as advertized or it falls of his trailer I wouldn't release the money. I suppose I could send him the trucking amount so that he wouldn't be out anything if I was unreasonable once the tractor arrived. Apparently any attorney will provide that service for a small fee. So I would just do it with one in his town. Thank you all for your responses - hopefully he's O.K. with this and I'll have a "happily ever after" ending to report. Bart
