never been in that situation.. but I'd have trouble.. giving that much $, even as check without seeing it/driving ect. It could be worth the $ of the trip as a safty. (I've often found a better deal along the way to go look at a car) If he won't hold it for you till you get there then maybe its not ment to be... buyer (and seller)beware now days.... safe bet would (maybe?)be to go there and take a cashiers check (have your bank put the Tractor serial# on the check like you do to buy a car) and go with him to the bank and get a reciept or bill of sale there.so you're both covered.. If it doesn't work out take your cashiers check back to your bank... though call, you'd like to trust people.. it's hard to trust someone that's not trusting of you..a good deposit should be enough to hold something.. ect ect ect.. good luck..
