My grandpa recently bought a very nice McCormick Deering W-30. I have hand cranked our Case VAC a few times (along with plenty of flywheel tractors), and I know the basics. Make sure it's in neutral, timing retarded, choke and throttle positions, etc, put crank at bottom, and pull up 1/4 to 1/2 turn. The tractor does start pretty good, and hopefully even better as I learn what it likes. But what is the best (safest) way to hold the crank, and does it really matter which hand you use?
