I'm the same way here. What I do is tell the phone company that I can't recieve calls but can dial out. That gets a repairman out. Then when he shows up I tell him that my calls are being dropped upon dial-up. He then will test pairs until he finds the best set with the least amount of nosie on the line.

If I tell that to whoever takes the orginal call they won't send out a repairman as they only provide voice service, not digital service.

The next best thing I did was upgrade puters to XP-home and 56k V.92. Huge page load speed increase, so much that I forgot about getting satellite. I only get 28.6k at best out of 56k.
