The Styled L and LA had John Deere engines, I am not sure about the unstyled L, the 62 that was the predesor of the L I think had the Hercules, The L was rated to do the work of a two horse team with the LA larger and rated equivelent to a 3 horse team. You probably will not find a serial No. plate on that tractor as most have been lost due to the mounting location on the rear axle where every time you got on or of of it you hit that plate with your foot and they got tore off easily, the wheels tell me that you have the larger LA, the L had pressed steel wheels and 22" tires
