The injection pump on your pickup has a 11 year, 120,000 mile warranty. It's a GM special issue. You should have gotten a letter informing you of this change but I know they did. If it is at a GM dealer and they can't keep it running I would say it's because they don't know what they are doing. Stanadyne has a aftermarket setup for mounting the fuel injector module on the valve cover to keep it away from the heat when it is mounted on the pump. If they say the fuel is contaminated they should be smart enought to drop the tank and clean it out. The fuel system is pretty simple except for the electronics. These replacements should all be new pumps. The line about having to get 5 to get a good one is a lie. These are the same pumps they use on the assembly line and you can bet your butt that GM wouldn't put up with that kind of failure rate at the factory.
