Kirk, Depending on how tough the grass is, you are looking at 10 to 12 hours of steady mowing. If you can haul butt, 7-8 hours. I'm mowing with a 6 foot, traveling in 3rd or 5th and get about 1 and a half acres per hour. With a 4 footer, I was going just less than an acre per hour. You should be able to do about an acre or just better per hour. That is open field, no trees to get around, no barns or sheds in the way. Is this idea of yours to do your own mowing have to do with the cost of hiring it out? I'm charging $40 per hour, man and machine, and have no problem getting jobs. If you are paying $250 per mowing, you are going to get 10 to 20 mowings for the price of setting up your own operation, depending on the cost of equipment, fuel and maintenance. That's 2.5 to 5 years of not having to do it yourself. Folks on this site know that I like to mow, so I don't mind getting a weekend in the sun cutting every thing in sight. Some people don't like to do that, or don't have time. They just like to see the pasture looking neat and trim, so they pay me to do something I like to do anyway. Works out well for everyone. Hope this helps, UFO Man

Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
