Shadetree, Jon H has it right. One brand of propane carburetor I have seen had a choke butterfly in it just like a gas carb did. One thing I would caution you about though, is too much priming or choking.About 4 seconds on that primer button is usually enough. That vapor can go right past the rings and into the oil pan and then ignite. This is the voice of experience talking. It can blow the valve cover gasket, the tappet cover gasket, the oil pan gasket, and even swell the oil pan. And if the oil stick doesn"t fall on top of you, then you"ll likely never find it and have to buy a new one. Then you have to wash your face and possibly change underwear. Be careful.
