Depends on the brand of propane equipment,but most vaporizer/regulators have a button on the regulator case that when pushed will open the second regulator stage and will feed propane to the carb under pressure . Most of these have an electric or cable operated option to trip the primer from the operators position.

I have found when it is really cold(-20 f or colder) and propane does not vaporize well,that a sniff of starting fluid in the air cleaner intake will get a propane engine to light right off.
