I understand what you are saying. There surely must be a key on the shaft. I don't think even Kubota engineers would rely on friction alone to keet it centered. What you might try as an easy fix is to drill down from the top, half in the shaft half in the outer part that is slipping and drive a round pin in. I had to do that on front tractor spindles when the keyway was worn.
