The best place in the long run to get the parts is your local John Deere dealer. They aren't that much more expensive than most aftermarket parts and they tend to be better quality. If your friend is familiar with diesel engines the two of you shouldn't have much trouble overhauling your tractor. 4020 engines are pretty basic. One crucial thing is to make sure you get the O-ring grooves in the block where the liner drops down SPOTLESS, otherwise you might leak coolant into the crankcase. Get yourself a service manual, the original John Deere one is the best, but I&T has one too, either one will give you all the specs on clearances, capacities, bolt tourques, ets. The tractor serial# is at the back ot the rear end housing, that's all you need for ordering parts. Good luck! NG
