I always had good luck with Red Wings. Even in constant exposure to dirt, oil, fuel, water and the like as a diesel techician. I could usually get a year and a half out of them, which when you're in them 60+ hours a week, isn't too bad. The last time I wore a pair out, I started wearing hiking-shoe type shoes, and my back starts giving me trouble when they get close to worn out, which takes well under a year. I'm going back to Red Wings with steel toes and steel shanks in the soles. Plus, if you buy good quality work boots, you can get them resoled and/or reheeled depending on how they're made.
