Hello again Bill. Amish practice of horse drawn equipment with engines- don't start engine until ready to work= less fuel used, less $ spent. Real Horse power can provide its own replacements. Possible disadvantage -about 20%+ of farm land needed for pasture, hay ground, corn for feed for horses, need to feed in winter when not working. Modern farm may need 1/2+ crop income to pay for fuel, new tractor, bigger equipment, bank loans.. Amish farms survive better in hard times?? -Rarely hear of Amish farms sold for bankruptcy, at least not in Green County. The term 'Horseing around' means actual working. Equivalent term for computer? 'Mousing?' RN.
