JD A Unstyled.... oil change 1938 Mod

I hate to sound like a real idiot here, I just picked up my first JD, and wow, it's weird compared to MH, Cockshutts and Farmalls. I found the oil filter, and assummed the drain plug is next to it, but how much oil does it take with the new oil filter. Is the crankcase breather next to the shifting lever for the engine crankcase, or the transmission...I assume you fill the engine hear. I haven't had a chance to stop in to buy manuals yet, so please bear with me.
