I would be careful with this. You don"t want to open a can of worms where you will be responsible for an expensive cleanup which could break the bank. As others have suggested it may be good to hire a testing/remediation company to check it out first. Even then you might have a problem if state/local environmental law requires them to report the contamination to authorities even though the company is working for you. Just out of curioity, does your county require this for all farmland being bought/sold, or are you planning to create residential lots of the place?
