As to the gauge, it is geared to the engine crankshaft and basically counts the number of revolutions of the engine. If that tractor would have been run at exactly 1580 rpm all the time, it would have run exactly 6765 hours. Ovbiously sometimes you run at full rpm, and sometimes at idle. Tractors do a lot of pto work standing still, and run in different gears. You can't really judge 'miles' on a tractor, you have to judge 'hours'. The others give a good approximation. A tractor probably needs a rebuild somewhere around 5000 hours, a really well cared for tractor can go 10,000 hours. Just as a car can go 150,000 miles before it's used up, some can go 300,000 miles.... --->Paul
