Assuming you have the FMJ magneto:

Magneto Internal Timing

Magneto to Engine Timing

Make sure you are on the compression stroke for #1 cylinder. The flywheel marks are visible through the 1" diameter opening on the left side of the torque tube. Number 1 TDC is indicated by "CENTER" appearing in the middle of the hole. The advance spark position is indicated by "FIRE" appearing in the center of the hole. Use "FIRE" for method number I and "CENTER" for method II.
