I can remember a trip to San Antonio, TX. and my mother was going to buy a souvenier for us. Asked me what I wanted and I said an agate shooter. Still remember going in the store (had counters built up like the Woolsworth 5 and dime; maybe it was). Anyway, remember picking out a pretty one with concentric rings in beige and reddish brown.

Course in those days, the "notches on your gun" was how big a bag of marbles you had.
