+ grnd to - grnd switch

I am the proud owner of a 2n that I bought to use around my place in SE AZ.After using it for about 3 yrs, it would not power up after starting.(this became hard also).I got out my trusty manuel to try and find out what the problem might be. That is when I discovered that the tractors were originally made with positive ground sytems. Mine is neg.ground. What had to be done to switch ground polarity and should I switch it back? Could this be why I can't get it to charge?Any and all help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank U
