Where have you been? It's been like that for longer than I can remember in every place I've tried to buy anything. Try asking one of those dweebs at BestBuy a question, any question. The only thing they know how to say is "let me tell you about our service agreement...". The only way to get what you want at the price you want to pay is to do exactly what you did, become an informed shopper.
