If you are a gambler, get the tractor home and drop the oil pan first. Check inside real well with a flashlight, if the rods,pistons cam etc are looking reasonable you may be able to do the BP Blaster trick. On the other hand rebuilds are fun, you can do over time, streching the 600-1000+ cost out. One other thing to consider, how are the tires and rims? there is another $1000. Thats the beauty of the hobby you can not sell it for what you have into it, so you keep it and then get the urge to get another one.
