There are direct-drive PTO generators made exactly for this purpose. They are avaialable in both 540 and 1,000 rpm versions. They mount directly on the PTO. They are sold in various KW ratings and the minimum required PTO hp is specified. When you buy the tractor, make sure it has a "live, independent" PTO. Not all do.
