Tony, Next time it shuts down, crack the air bleed on the fuel filter and see if it has air in it or fuel only--with no bubbles. If the filter has air in it then there's a restriction somewhere in the fuel line. Another thing to check is the fuel hose between the filter and the injection pump. My old 172 Ford had a pinhole in it and it allowed just a little air into the pump, causing erratic operation. Don't know if that model has steel tubing or rubber hose like ours, but figured I mention it as a possibility. Last thing I can think of--something wrong with the governor or the pump??
