I never saw that problem on anything except GM FWD. And I saw it a lot. Never did really pin down the problem but suspect it a combination of being adjusted too loose and possibly the backing plates worn where the shoes rub. The shoes create "grooves" when not lubed and the they will get have caught until the right situation causes them to ride over the hump. Doing a PROPER brake job has always eliminated it for me, hence my not determining the true cause.
