First of all, what make and model of alternator? And, if it's a Delco, does the two prong plug plut into the top or into the back? If the top, I'll assume it's a 10 or 12si with the internal regulator. If it plugs in back, it needs an external regulator. So, not having any idea what you have, the wiring for the most popular used on tractors - the Delco with internal reg. and two-prong plug that plugs in on top - #1 goes to switched 12 volts positive, and #2 goes to full-time 12 volts postive, and the big pole is the charge output.
