leaking fuel injector pump Ford 801

Trying to find info on repairing this injector pump on my Ford 801. It has a drip leak from the rod that goes through pump and hooks to throttle linkage. It leaks on both sides of the pump. (See arrow)
I have talked to two pump rebuilders (by e-mail) and one told me the bushings are probably bad and need replacing. This would mean a total pump rebuild at $500.00. The other told me bushing could be bad but are not 90% of the time. Probably just the o-rings bad and needs resealing.
So if possible I would like to take the cover off to left of leak pull pin out and replace the o-rings myself and see if this works before jumping into a total rebuild that I may not need. The pump works great and engine runs and idles great it just leaks.
The book I have does not show any of the internal pump parts. I would like to know what I will encounter when doing this as I do not want to take cover off and have a million small parts fall out and not know how to reinstall.
I can rebuild a engine from the ground up just have never been in a pump before. Is this something I can do myself or should I just bite the bullet and spend the $500.00?
If anyone has a detailed view of pump internal parts that would be a big help also.
