How to check out a Seller?

I've been looking and researching and web searching and reading for about 18 months, I've finally found the tractor I want in Manitoba! Tractors are expensive in Wash St!!! The question is how do I know the seller is reputable? I'm worried about sending him a wire transfer for that much money.
I found the tractor ad here and haven't seen any negative feedback on the forums. He has several tractors for sale so I'm assuming, & he says he's been selling here for a while. Thanks for your help
