The newer models that you have mentioned would definately be more versatile and easier to use but under no circumstances should they be considered safer. Your tractor will overturn just as easily with the F-11 as it will with the old McCormick #30. Equipping your tractor with a wide front end will only slightly help, keep in mind that when using a loader, it is the rear wheels of the tractor that lose contact with the ground, not the front. Loader safety is all about knowing your machine and using your head.
